Quality can not attain excellence unless it is realised in harmony with nature. Château Constellation accords a vital role to sustainable development, with respect for the environment, the authenticity of the landscapes, to optimal compatibility between grape varieties and terroirs as well as to the development of rational cultivation. A particularly rigorous quality supervision of the vineyards favours the selection of old vines and low yield. The canton of Valais is known today as a concentrate of the best wines in Switzerland. It is distinguished by an exceptional range of soils where a multitude of grape varieties enjoy ideal conditions for their growth. With over 5,000 hectares of vines, the region is subject to a micro-climate permitting the vintages of the Valais to be distinguished regularly at an international level.
Collaboration with Michel Rolland
Château Constellation collaborates with Rolland Conseils et Prestations, the team of Michel Rolland, one of the most highly reputed oenologists in the world. The work which is devoted to the vine, the vinification and the blending, the precision of which can be compared with that of a goldsmith, brings some of the most specialised knowledge in the world to the wines of Château Constellation. Based at Pomerol, in the Bordeaux region, the team of Michel Rolland also gives advice to French vineyards such as Château Angelus, Château Ausone, Château Pape Clément, Château Evangile, Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Lascombe and international wine cellars such as that of Ornellaia in Tuscany. Château Constellation is, to this day, the only cellar in Switzerland benefitting from the unique know-how of this great wine name.
A unique identity
The Constellation vintage varies its blend according to the years. Each vintage is magnified by the hand of a Swiss artist. Nicolas Imhof, an artist having worked in the Unites States to create universes for films such as: "Harry Potter", "Batman & Robin", "Babe II", "Scoobi doo" and many others, had the honour of illustrating the Constellation 2012.
An ultra-modern tool of production
Veritable architectural masterpiece, the cellar is endowed with the latest technological innovations in terms of the management of temperatures and monitoring of fermentations. The grapes are sorted out at the beginning of the wine harvest in order to have uniformity in their maturity, and the installation of soft pneumatic wine presses allows the maceration of the wine harvest. All of this state-of-the-art infrastructure makes it one of the most successful and prestigious winegrowing businesses in Switzerland.
