You remain roped up for the entire route. Various anchor points make it easier to progress and aid points make it easier to climb the more technical passages.
The via cordata is accessible to anyone in good physical condition. However, it is strongly recommended to use the services of a guide. Without a guide, it is necessary to have good alpine technique, suitable safety equipment and very good orientation skills.

SUMMIT OF THE MONT-FORT

This itinerary links Les Gentianes to Mont-Fort. It has the advantage of being entirely accessible via ski lifts. It is reached via the Tortin chairlift and the Gentianes cable car. Then, with the strength of your calves and arms, the via cordata leads you to the top of the Mont-Fort cable car at 3330 metres above sea level ! On arrival, the panoramic view is breathtaking with a view over the most famous mountains in the Alps, including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn !

There is another alternative which takes you to the Tête de Tortin and then to the upper part of the Mont-Fort glacier. It then takes you back to Siviez via the Cleuson dam and its turquoise waters. While the departure is also at Les Gentianes and is therefore accessible by ski lift, the descent is made entirely on foot.
