Plan du Fou
Natural site
The Plan du Fou, which rises to an altitude of 2,430 metres, offers a very pretty viewpoint. In summer, this summit is a great spot to stop for a rest during your hikes. In winter, it is accessible via the ski lifts and connects the slopes of Siviez to those of Haute-Nendaz.
In summer, the Plan du Fou has to be earned: you can reach it on foot either from Siviez or from Tracouet via the Dent de Nendaz and its mountain ridges. The advantage is that this makes it a less crowded summit from where you can enjoy the panoramic view over the Cleuson dam at the bottom of the valley, and the incredible natural surroundings.
In winter, the Plan du Fou comes to life: it is a central point of the 4 Vallées ski domain; its gondola links Siviez to Haute-Nendaz. There is a restaurant whose sunny terrace offers magnificent views over the surrounding mountains. It is also possible to reach it via a signposted ski touring itinerary.
