This artist is displaying canvasses and drawings at Nînd'Art in an exhibition named "Racines" (Roots).
THE ARTIST
With her family originating from the Valais, Chantal Moret was born in 1955 in Geneva. She currently lives in the small village of Champtauroz in the canton of Vaud. Her career as a painter began at the Beaux-arts in Lausanne.
In 1984 she had her first one-woman exhibition. Since then, she has exhibited her work both in Switzerland and abroad. Her paintings can be found in private collections in Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
"RACINES" (ROOTS)
With a new series of works on the theme of " Racines " (Roots), Chantal Moret has embarked on an adventure that addresses not only artistic and esthetic questions, but also more personal ones relating to her origins in the Valais and more particularly in Nendaz.
In order to make this project a reality, the artist took up the opportunity of an invitation to exhibit at Nînd'Art, Nendaz' cultural space and to spend a few weeks in artistic residence in the small village of Condémines.
There she produced about twenty paintings and several drawings, often inspired by roots collected or drawn in situ during her walks in the forest. This process of reappropriation has allowed the woman-painter she has become today to reconnect with the territory of her childhood and to translate her memories into authentic artistic objects.
